Who We Are And What We DoStreetWise is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to empower men and women who currently are, or at risk of becoming homeless. StreetWise accomplishes this mission by publishing a weekly magazine which is sold to these men and women(whom we refer to as "vendors"), and they in turn sell it on the street for a profit. The publication is not a hand-out, but rather an opportunity for these vendors to become financially self-sufficient through gainful employment. StreetWise was founded in 1992 by Judd Lofchie, and has become a staple reading of the Chicago streets, helping over 8500 vendors in its history. StreetWise has evolved from a monthly newspaper format to what is now a glossy, magazine style format. Your purchase of the magazine is not only a way to help vendors to be self-sufficient, but offers you intriguing articles about today's important issues, and entertaining articles to enhance your daily life. How You Can HelpThere are many opportunities to help the StreetWise mission. We hold many public fund raising events offer many advertising options and much more.
