Jane Addams Senior Caucus (JASC) has followed President Trump’s inauguration with “Resist Trump Tuesdays” at 3:30 p.m. in Federal Plaza for the first 100 days of his administration.
JASC partnered with Fair Economy Illinois for the January 24 event in the Plaza at Jackson and Dearborn Streets. Their action focused on threats to healthcare programs such as the Affordable Care Act and Medicare. They also demanded that U.S. Senators from Illinois Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, both Chicago Democrats, vote “no” on Tom Price as Trump’s Cabinet pick for the Department of Health and Human Services.
On January 31 they protested the nomination of Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education. Along with ONE Northside February 7, they noted that “Health Care is a Human Right.”
